About Dayna

Who is Dayna

My passion is helping people improve the quality of their lives and relationships. I am a Registered Psychologist (Registered to practice in Alberta #3595, BC #2828) and a Relationship Coach who works with couples and individuals.  I believe that we all have what we need within us, we just have to access it and have a clear vision of where we are going in life.  I love helping people access this part of themselves and create the vision of life they want, NOW.  Through my education and life experiences, I know that people feel better and are more successful in every way when they develop and maintain secure relationships with themselves and others. My job is to help you get there.

What I Do

Whether it’s an individual feeling stuck or paralyzed in anxiety or self doubt, or a couple feeling like roommates who are not taking good care of each other. I help people see who they really are, what’s really going on, and get clear on what they really want.  We make changes in the session that rewires your brain and creates new memories.  Although it can be uncomfortable at times, I will always have your back.  I believe secure healthy relationships with ourselves and others is the pathway to an extraordinary life.

How I Started

Early in my career I worked in forensics with mandated sexual perpetrators as well as female offenders in prison.  Although the therapy was providing support and rehabilitation it never incorporated family or couples therapy.  My clients would be sent home to an abusive family or marriage with no therapy to reintegrate them.  It was hard for me to feel like I was making a lasting impact on the lives of my clients.  This lead me in the direction of marriage and family therapy.  I knew that I wanted to contribute to others' lives in a profound and meaningful way, I returned to school and earned my Master's of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.  From there, my love of this work truly blossomed as I became involved with various mental health organizations in Calgary and eventually started my own private practice specializing in couples therapy.

I BELIEVE IT'S MY PROFESSIONAL AND ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITY AS A THERAPIST TO CONTINUE MY DEVELOPMENT

MY OWN RELATIONSHIP IS PART OF WHAT GROUNDS AND INSPIRES ME AS A COUPLES THERAPIST.

My Story

In the summer of 2002, I met my husband in my hometown.  Our relationship is part of what grounds and inspires me as a couple’s therapist; we live the work I do every day. Together my amazing husband and I are raising three extraordinary children and I am exceptionally grateful for the marriage we have worked hard for and the family we have created.  I’m a lover of all thing’s relationships! My husband, my kids, my family, and my friends are my life.  My clients hold a loving spot in me as well.  I love what I do, so much so that its my passion! People who know me would describe me as: playful, kindhearted, and outgoing, and love to make people laugh!  Black coffee and milk chocolate are my fav, and like many, I enjoy yoga, listening to audiobooks, 90’s music, and laughing and dancing with people I love. I'm sort of a neat freak; that comes from my mother, and I’m an only child.
